Improving MSP’s Strategic Vendor Support

The client is a global provider of workforce management solutions. Their MSP practice leverages a vast network of vendors, connecting businesses across sectors to experienced staffing suppliers.

The Challenge

Though the MSP services a broad range of clients, many of their job requisitions were not properly segmented.  Marketing roles and IT, for example, were not subdivided, creating a host of challenges for the MSP and their partners, including:

  • Inaccurate candidate submittals, since requestions were not properly segmented
  • Decreased coverage for staffing providers
  • End-clients opting to use other MSP services

The inaccurate segmentation affected all involves parties, hindering the efficiency of MSP’s workforce management solutions. As a result, they sought third-party consultation on this unique challenge.

The Solution

Utilizing the client’s MSP services, The Planet Group advised their Program Managers to subdivide their requestions, and build out more specified categories to acquire more niche vendors. This segmentation effort was successful in subdividing IT consulting roles and Creative and Marketing positions.
